Tips to Protect Yourself Against Identity Theft Criminals

Identity theft is the fastest crime growing crime in America. Here are some glaring facts:

· On the average, its victims comes close to 10 million Americans annually.

· Half of the complaints that consumers file all involve some sort of identity theft.

· Half of the ten million victims do not have any idea how their identities were stolen nor who stole it.

· The best way to fight identity theft is to educate yourself.

The last fact is what’s really interesting. A lot of people feel hopeless when it comes to dealing with identity theft crimes not knowing that preventing it from happening actually involves very simple steps. Yes, it is true that identity theft can happen to anyone at anytime and wherever one is, but that doesn’t mean that it canoe be avoided. All you have to be is educated and aware. If you know how things work, like when you know how diseases spread, then you can take the necessary precaution to prevent yourself from contracting it. That’s also the same principle that works with identity theft. If you don’t want to get victimized, follow these simple steps:

1. Monitor your credit report by requesting them regularly from the three credit bureaus. The law provides that you are allowed to request one free copy of your credit report every year. If there are three credit bureaus, then that means that you can monitor your credit thrice in a year. The request can be done online, via mail or through a phone call.

2. If your address is included in any mailing list, call the credit bureau and opt out. Having your address listed on mailing lists and receiving frequent junk mails can make your prone to mail theft and therefore, identity theft.

3. If you don’t have a need for it, avoid bringing your social security card in your wallet. Doing such will only expose your social security number to fraud and identity theft. You have to remember that your social security number is your unique identifier and it forms a very important part of your security. This also implies that you should never print your social security number in your checks because that would expose your number and can get pretty dangerous.

4. When you receive emails from Nigeria, a lottery company or other prize notifications, delete them immediately. You may never know but these emails may contain spywares that will automatically download and install itself on your computer when you open the email. Spyware collects personal information from your computer and when you go online sends them out.

5. Call the Opt Out number to stop all credit card offers. Often, these credit card offers are being imitated by scammers by pretending to be representatives from credit card companies and asking for personal information.

6. Install an antivirus and spyware protection software in your computer. This way, you will never be infected with spyware and viruses that may otherwise harm your computer and your identity.

Start Selling Online

”Start Selling Online And Acquire Bigger Profit.”

I’m pretty sure that a lot of people have had encountered that line before. But why consider selling online when you can continue selling your products like how people used to sell things during the dark ages? Well actually, there’s no problem if you wish to sell your products like how the merchants used to do it. However, we are no longer living in the dark ages. We are already in the new millennium, an era of modernization and technology where everything is fast-paced and high-tech.

I’m not saying that you should all leave your traditional methods of selling and then start flocking on the internet to market your products and services. What I’m trying to say is that you should consider taking your businesses to the next level, and that is to start marketing on the world wide web. If you already have a shop or an office, creating another shop on the internet will bring you more customers and profit. Don’t close your actual store, since you can run your shop and online shop all at the same time.

How on earth can someone build a shop on the internet? Well, unlike the usual shops that people own, you will no longer need the help of construction workers and engineers when building an online shop. However, you will need a website host, website developer, some web designs and other web construction services if you don’t have any idea about website construction. Feeling freaky with the possible cost? Don’t worry, since all the costs you will face on building a website is nothing compared to the huge amount you’ll face on building actual stores.

Build a website? I know that would probably be the next question you have in mind. Why create a website anyway? In fact, your online shop will take place on your website, since you can’t put an actual shop on every person’s computer. Once you already have a website, you can now start selling and advertising all of your products on your site.

When somebody wants to buy some of your products online, they can pay you via credit card or money transfer. Among the popular money transfer methods are making transactions through paypal, alertpay, xoom and others along that line. To send the purchased products to your customers, they can pick it up on a designated place or if they’re somewhere else, you can have the products shipped to the customer’s preferred shipping address.

If you wish to start selling online but still don’t have anything to pay for web hosting and other web services, you can start selling online through free advertisement sites such as eBay, amazon and other free online marketplaces.

Money On The Internet

I remember when my grandmother used to scold me when I spend too much time on the Internet. I wonder if she would still scold me the same way today, when she finds out that I am already earning money on the internet. Some old people have this strange misconception about the internet and its significance. Well of course at times people use the internet for bad influence, but for me it all depends on how the user would exercise his agency when using the internet.

For me, finding a job on the internet is a lot easier than finding an actual job. The tasks are much easier and less hectic when you work at home, since you are in the comfort of your own home. However, you don’t get some of the bonuses and benefits that a regular employee gets. The internet has become a revolutionary way of earning for some people. The world is still immersed in economic problems and there’s a great multitude of unemployed people out there who can’t seem to find another job after being sacked. Good thing there’s money on the internet, some people can have sideline jobs while waiting for other job opportunities.

Some home based workers are well-paid. They are lucky though, but not every home based worker gets the same luck. Amazing skills are mandatory, but in this rat race, some rats are too lame and weak. There are many ways to find money on the internet. Although there are a lot of earning opportunities on the internet, there are also big time liars and scammers that may fool you.

Always remember to watch out for liars and scammers. Do not be desperate and do not allow middlemen to deceive you. Find jobs on legitimate sites and job markets. Do not be fooled by fake advertisements that ask for your money. Keep in mind that you don’t need to pay or buy anything to be able to get a job online. A lot of people are already making money on the internet without making transactions with pseudo-employers.
